Le Bulletin - September 2014
September is St. Barth’s quietest month. Many of the restaurants and boutiques close, and staff head out for well-deserved rest & relaxation. However, behind the shutters of closed hotels, workers are busy cleaning, painting and refurbishing under the direction of GMs and designers. Villa owners plan their refurbishments – be that adding a new bedroom or a new pool patio – during September as well. At SBP we are now all-hands-on-deck as our staff plans their pre-season November inspection trips. We’ll have all the information to assist you in choosing your accommodations and the latest on new restaurants, shops and spas.
We’ll launch the 2015 season on November 14 with our now-annual Seaside Soirée at the beautiful Hôtel Taïwana, and we are pleased to extend an invitation to all our clients who are on St. Barth that evening. We’re excited! And as is now our tradition, we will unveil the hot-off-the-press issue of our catalogue Live Your Dream.® November also sees Piteå Day, on the 9th, a special day when the island commemorates its return to France from Sweden. There’s lots of activity on the quay by the Wall House, and the road race Gustavialoppet is always fun. (SBP’s own Anne-Cécile Bedford will be running again.) And on November 19th, we hope you will celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau. We will be popping the cork at 7:01 p.m.
I hope to see you on the island!
Peg Walsh, President
St. Barth is widely recognized as the Caribbean’s culinary epicenter, and the island made a delicious decision to celebrate that honor and launch the season with the first annual Taste of St. Barth Gourmet Festival, October 30 – November 3. The island’s tourism committee, in conjunction with sponsorship from the Restaurant Association, the Hotel and Villas Association, the Bartender & Waiter Service and a bevy of others, has arranged an impressive – and fun – foodie’s dream of a festival.
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten whose accolades include 3 Michelin stars is the festival’s ambassador, and the island will play host to seven internationally acclaimed chefs. They hail from Japan, Brazil, Sweden and, of course, France. Each will be paired and hosted with one of the island’s top hotels for the preparation of a gourmet dinner. The festival highlights will include professional and amateur cooking and baking competitions and a contest for professional bartenders who will look to create an original Taste of St. Barth cocktail. See full details. Remember, Value Season pricing is in effect until December 14 and many of our hotel partners are offering special packages for the event.

We love to get breakfast to go – coffee and a ham & cheese croissant – and head to Gouverneur Beach. We get the shady spot under the tree and sip & swim.
Guest at Villa Everest
...a big thank-you to the friendly & capable team at St. Barth Properties. My husband, 2 young children, and I enjoyed a relaxing and fun stay at Sunrise-Sunset Villa in late July. We loved the villa’s spectacular views, its comfortable size and clean decor, and its proximity to markets, wine shop, and bakery. Our kids love their French baguette and croissants in the morning. You were very helpful with restaurant recommendations and were so kind to our kids. We enjoyed many of the island’s restaurants ...also preparing meals in our villa and dining on the terrace watching the sun go down. We will definitely be coming back!
