Le Bulletin - March 2015
Several years ago, I was named the Top Villa Rental Specialist for St. Barth by travel advocate extraordinaire Wendy Perrin, Condé Nast Traveler’s, then, Director of Consumer News and Digital Community. It was a highlight of my career, and an honor I was proud to hold from its inception in 2006 until this past year, when Wendy left CNT and began an exciting new journey with the launch of WendyPerrin.com.
In addition to sharing insider travel intel from around the world, this now, already go-to-website offers tips ranging from the latest smartphone apps for travelers to keeping kids happy on vacation. Everything in sync with its tagline and vision – Make Your Next Trip Extraordinary. And it hosts the WOW List – Wendy’s Trusted Travel Experts (TTEs). Each TTE is chosen for their in-depth knowledge of a particular destination or type of travel and for having the proven expertise craved by today’s sophisticated travelers. I’m honored to be included once again as the expert in St. Barth. WOW!
I know even our most ardent St. Barth devotees enjoy vacationing in other places, too, so I am happy to share the website and WOW List with you. When you connect and book with one of my fellow TTEs via the website, you’re designated a V.I.P., and you’ll receive exclusive benefits including Wendy’s trip-monitoring service. Subscribe to her newsletter – the Perrin Passport – and you’ll get the latest news delivered to your inbox. I’m pleased to share my Insider’s Guide to St. Barth Villa Vacations – take a read and make Your Next Trip Extraordinary and, of course, Live Your Dream®.
I hope to see you on the island!

Villas of St. Barth
We are pleased to welcome Villa Orion to our portfolio just in time for a spring break booking.
Situated in the St. Jean hillside, this striking four bedroom villa is perfect for sharing with family and friends. Kids will love the media amenities, U.S. satellite and Apple TV service, a home cinema and Spotify for their favorite music – and the gorgeous pool.
The main pavilion encompasses spacious living and dining areas and a well-equipped kitchen while blending with the outdoor living space. An expansive multi-level deck includes a graceful ajoupa-like structure that provides shade for a portion of the pool and for relaxing or dining. The master bedroom is housed in a separate bungalow. Two en suite guest bedrooms are together in a bungalow just opposite, and the fourth is located on the lower level. All have en suite baths, TVs with satellite and Apple service and sweeping views. The home cinema is adjacent to the lower-level fitness room. The décor is an eclectic mix of traditional furnishings and mid-century pieces – chic and comfortable.
Congratulations to SBP’s Founder & President Peg Walsh for being named a Top Travel Expert for St. Barth on Wendy Perrin’s WOW List. She looks forward to introducing St. Barth and its villa lifestyle to a new legion of fans.

Hotels of St. Barth
As we shared last month, Hotel Le Toiny was purchased by Charlie and Mandie Vere Nicoll, and with the new ownership comes new management. We bid merci and au revoir to Guy & Dagmar Lombard, Toiny’s former general managers. They did a fabulous job, and we hope our paths will cross again.
L’Avventura. The owners of Gustavia’s (former) fish resto Ocean have reinvented and renamed the space and fare. The concept is now wood-fired Italian cuisine. The pizzeria-plus serves up pasta dishes, grilled meat and fish and some rotisserie items. The space remains charming and cozy with banquette seating and a neighborhood ambiance. Prices are reasonable, and it’s a nice choice for more casual dining.
New this season, harborside L’Escale d’Avriette (La Pointe side) is already getting kudos. Operated by a St. Barth family and named after their mother, Avriette, it specializes in Créole cuisine. The menu often includes the delicious dish Gratin de Christophine with langouste. The tropical squash’s flesh (steamed) is scooped out and mixed with veggies and the langouste refilled, topped with cheese and grilled. Yum. Let us know what you think.
