Le Bulletin - October/November 2014
Come late-October, St. Barth slowly and languorously starts to wake up, and the excitement builds as the hotels, restaurants and shops reopen. It’s like how you feel when you open your eyes after your poolside nap and think about having sunset cocktails at Dõ Brazil, dinner at Christopher’s Taïno then catching the show at the notorious Le Ti St. Barth. Fun! Late October and November are delightful times to visit, and at Value-Season pricing, you’ll have some extra Euros to shop in those just-opened boutiques. See our calendar section for what’s happening.
I hope to see you on the island!
Peg Walsh, President
- October 30 – November 3 - Taste of St. Barth Gourmet Festiva
- November 9 – Piteå Day - The island celebrates its handing back from Sweden to France, and the Gustavialoppet road race is just one of the day’s fun activities
- November 14 – SBP’s Seaside Soirée at Flamand’s Hôtel Taïwana. All our clients who are on-island will be our guests as we launch the season.
- November 19 – Beaujolais Nouveau. We will be popping the cork at 7:01 p.m. at Le Cellier du Gouverneur in Gustavia.
St. Barth was caught by surprise when Tropical Storm Gonzalo intensified into a hurricane on October 13. As a result, many boats, still in the water, were damaged or lost. Fortunately, overall, there was no severe damage, and the island has the infrastructure to recover quickly. Everyone went right into clean-up mode. As is our protocol, we check in with our clients and make sure they are weathering the weather and are safe & sound. One couple reported back to say, “We found it to be quite an experience” and the sun was shining brightly the next day.
