Le Bulletin - April 2013

Villa Grand Galet

Spring is in the air. Finally! And we have never seen our clients enjoy their spring break more than this season and that includes all the nautical buffs. The St. Barth Bucket, considered to be the “most important super yacht regatta in the world” was followed by the Les Voiles de Saint Barth, which in its fourth run, continues to get bigger and better. Come this weekend in May, the West Indies Regatta brings schooners and sloops in to honor the art of Caribbean boatbuilding. Craft markets will commemorate the past days of trading by sail. It is sure to be a lovely event. Rest assured, the island has more than nautical events to tempt you to visit. Its annual spring sales days have just been announced: May 4 to June 6. Wouldn’t it make for a perfect girlfriends getaway? We have some great ideas for you below.

April saw me in Saõ Paulo, Brazil, at the city’s annual Travelweek. I enjoy this conference as it gives us the opportunity to promote my favorite island to South America’s travel agents. I’ll be heading back to Cape Cod for the summer, but of course I’ll be back and forth with our team, Kathy, Anne and Julie, as they begin their bi-annual villa inspections. And our clients will be pleased to know our Concierge super-team, Julia and Magda will be putting their heads together in June to discover ways to make your vacation even dreamier.

I hope to see you on the island – and in the shops!

Villas, Sales & Girlfriends Getaways

Camaraderie, catching up and just plain fun are all top reasons why women reach out to their BFFs with plans for a Girlfriends Getaway. Food, wine and of course spa treatments are all key ingredients; we have all that and more on St. Barth. And our recipe includes a soupcon of sophistication and French culture. The pièce de résistance? Les SOLDES. Translation? All the shops will participate in the annual sale days, set for May 4 – June 6, 2013. And that means bargains galore on chic European fashions including beautifully made children’s clothing, gorgeous resort wear, jewelry and more. Duty-free, St. Barth boasts all the international marquee names and a bevy of special boutiques.

First things first – the villa – we have a wide selection to choose from in all budget ranges now being offered at Value Season pricing, which means discounts of up to 40%. And we are sure you can put that to good use! Here are some great villa suggestions: Mer Soleil, Au Soleil, Birdy and Grand Galet whose location in Lurin is ideal for shopping expeditions to Gustavia. And we have loads more – our villa experts are eager to help, and our concierge team is at the ready to book a car to explore the island and all its gorgeous beaches plus spa treatments, restaurant reservations, private chefs and that kite-boarding lesson you’ve been thinking about. And for adventurous girlfriends, island naturalist Hélène Bernier offers hiking trips at several levels. For more-sedentary sisters, she offers cultural tours via passenger van.

Take a read about all the shopping and fun that’s waiting for you.

Hotels of St. Barth

Hard to believe, but we are already planning for the Holiday Season and booking requests are coming in. We are pleased to receive an exclusive allotment of two Ocean View Rooms at the Hotel Guanahani & Spa for the December 20, 2013 to January 6, 2014 period. A luxurious full-service resort, it offers a romantic getaway, but also perfect, with its Kindergarten and Junior Club, for families with young children.

Island News

Every year the St. Barth Bucket Regatta makes a significant donation to a worthy island cause or project. This year they presented a check for €20,000 to the St. Barth Yacht Club. The money will be used to purchase two new RS Vision Boats. The Yacht Club and its teaching of young sailors is near and dear to SBP’s heart. We applaud the donation.

Client Tip

Restaurant des Pecheurs (at Hotel Le Sereno) – We loved the atmosphere here. The way the restaurant is open to the beach and the decor. The food was outstanding here as well. My soup appetizer was one of the best soups I have ever had.

Villa Poiriers suited us perfectly for its size, privacy and wonderful views of Lorient Beach and beyond. Your welcome package was comprehensive and gave some great tips. We’ll definitely be back on St. Barth soon and wouldn’t think of booking through any other agency.
