Le Bulletin November 2018

Villa Camp David

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! At St. Barth Properties, we are always thankful for the clients who have trusted us to deliver a dream vacation – for 30 years now – on beautiful St. Barth. I spent time there earlier this month with our island team; there was much to do, including preparations for our season-launching Soirée and a round of villa inspections.

I was happy my schedule allowed for a stop at Le Select to join in the celebration of their 69th anniversary. It was wonderful to see this iconic bar’s indomitable owner, Marius Stakelborough, looking so well.

Marius and Peg

My husband, Steve, and I made a quick trip back home to Cape Cod to host Thanksgiving dinner with our family. We are returning to St. Barth this week. I especially love St. Barth in November – excitement for the upcoming season is tangible, this year more than then ever, with many of our 5 star hotel partners reopening their doors. And of course, Value Season pricing (villa and hotel rates average 30% less till December 14) sweetens le pot. I’m looking forward to a season full of warm St. Barth-style sunny days.

I hope to see you on the island!

Villas of St. Barth

If you are dreaming about celebrating the holidays in St. Barth, don’t delay another minute! There is no place that does the Festive Season better than our little island. There is sparkle and glamour galore, “star” gazing and special events from the simple – like Christmas Eve services – to the sublime. The New Year’s Eve fireworks over the harbor are spectacular and illuminate all those stunning yachts moored in the harbor.

Here’s a sample of what’s available:

Vue du Port – An elegant one bedroom apartment in Gustavia’s Colony Club complex, complete with a harbor view. Stroll to shops, bistros and Shell Beach for a swim. Enjoy lunch or a sundowner at the chic beachfront Shellona.

Arc en Ciel - This oh-so-private villa is as stunning as its views. Four en suite bedrooms encourages you to share the holidays with your very favorite people. The kitchen is fit for a chef, and we’d be happy to book one for you. Dream about having your meals prepared and served to you on the poolside raised terrace, looking out to the sea. Happy Holidays, indeed.

Camp David – This rambling nine bedroom compound offers old-world elegance and beachy-casual comfort. Located on the quiet end of sexy St. Jean Beach, it’s just steps from the water. Big enough for an entourage of 18, it has a wealth of amenities including a tennis court and a gym. You may never want to leave, but if you do, call our concierge to make lunch and dinner reservations. François Plantation makes for a special evening.

Hotels of St. Barth

Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa is now open with an exciting new rooftop bar called Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (WTF!). Stop in for a drink and maybe some tapas. A DJ or live music every Friday and Saturday night makes it even more fun.

Island News

Congratulations to all those involved in this year’s St. Barth’s Gourmet Festival, held earlier this month (November 1-4). It was a huge success! This celebration of French gastronomy now has quite a reputation in the culinary world. Foodies take note and think about it for next year.

Calling all dentists! The St. Barth Dental Association (SBDA) will hold its annual conference January 14-18, 2019. A well-planned agenda will include a celebration of the meeting’s 25th anniversary. We are pleased to partner with SBDA in assisting with villa rentals for attendees. In fact, Peg’s son, Dr. Mark Smyth, is attending. I really could go on for a page about all the things we loved about Noé. You can even walk to the Le Toiny beach bar for lunch along the beach! Just so, so perfect for us in every possible way! Your people on the ground in St. Barth couldn’t have been more helpful.
