Le Bulletin April 2019

Villa Milonga

What a season! The consensus of our island travel partners—villa owners, hoteliers, restaurateurs and most importantly, our clients, all agree. St. Barth is not just “back” it’s better than ever. Oh, and for sure the gang at SEABOB ST. BARTH agrees. Everyone seemed to be enjoying those underwater scooters. I enjoyed watching and was almost tempted myself! But…for now, I’ll take the word of the staff and VP Tom Smyth that they are fun and stick to my favorite beach time activities – a picnic lunch, a good book and people-watching.

SBP’s marketing consultant Connie Walsh and her husband Michael joined us for a week at our Gustavia apartment Suite Paradis. Connie had her pen and notebook in hand and produced a trip report. Watch for it on Peg’s Blog, (If you haven’t subscribed to Peg’s Blog, please do for the latest island news and tips.)

Merci beaucoup to our U.S. and island staff for yeoman’s duty in finding our valued clients that “perfect property” and delivering a season’s worth of our signature dream vacations. April can indeed bring showers, but the sun “rules” in St. Barth and this month starts Value Season on St. Barth (through December 14) – and a springtime of sunny days and significant savings – often over 30% for villas and hotels. Check out the hotel section of our website and inquire about packages and promotions – spa aficionados, take note. Villas of St. Barth

We are pleased to welcome Villa Milonga to our portfolio.

Villa Milonga

Villa Milonga’s idyllic location, hillside in Marigot, treats guests to panoramic views of its brilliantly colored bay. Guests will enjoy the covered dining portico and an expansive deck that provides abundant outdoor living space and features a Jacuzzi. Down a few steps, chaise lounges flank the heated pool. The air-conditioned main pavilion features a sleek, modern kitchen with full-length windows framing the view and island seating. There’s a dining area, and a spacious living room. Sleeping accommodations include four en suite bedrooms: a master suite, off the living room, with a sea view,  two en suite guest bedrooms—that can connect—housed in a separate pavilion and a 4th bedroom located on a lower level. All bedrooms have king beds (In one of the guest rooms, the bed is convertible to twins).

We were excited to see the post-Irma renovations for the oh-so-charming 3 bedroom Villa Pipiri and we are told, there’s more to come. When guests arrive, it’s often love-at-first-sight of the sweeping Colonial staircase and the beautiful swimming pool, shaped like a nautilus shell. The pool is the focal point of an expansive deck furnished for outdoor living and dining. Pipiri’s hideaway-like Colombier setting offers stunning vistas of the verdant hillside and the sea beyond—and fiery sunsets. A comfortable living room opens to a porch offering another venue to dine and relax. Three bedrooms include a master suite and two guest bedrooms that share a spacious bath. All have king beds. One of the bedrooms opens, via French doors, to a rear deck strung with a hammock. A lovely landscaped rear yard features a built-in BBQ, a sofa — to sit and watch the designated “chef”, and a dining table.

Hotels of St. Barth

Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France will close earlier this year—on May 31 to begin work on some exciting new additions. They will start the 2019-20 season with 19 additional accommodations (rooms, suites and villas). We’ll share the updates as soon as we receive them. They have not yet announced their exact fall reopening date but are currently taking bookings from December 20, 2019 on.

Stay Longer for Less at the fabulous 5 star Hotel Toiny. Its Summer Escapades promotion offers a free night from May 1 to August 31. Stay for 5 nights or longer and get one night free. Even better, stay for 10 nights (or longer!) and receive two complimentary nights. We’re just thinking about long lazy feet-in the sand lunches at Toiny’s Beach Club. Summer in St. Barth? Oh, yeah…

Our recent site inspection at the Manapany included a delightful feet-in-the-sand lunch. We were impressed with its “clean and green” policy; it’s a true eco-resort, water is heated by solar panels and guests can drive to their room or suite in an electric car and “plug-in.” Rest assured, 5 star luxury is not sacrificed!

Serafina Beach Hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico We know many of you travel to St. Barth via Puerto Rico and on occasion, airline delays will find you with an unexpected overnight in San Juan. Well, when life hands you lemons – turn it into a Pina Colada at San Juan’s Serafina Beach Hotel – it’s their signature cocktail and you can it enjoy poolside, looking out at the sea. This chic new (it opened post-Irma) boutique hotel has a cool South-Beach vibe and we must say, super-comfy beds. Try it and you may find it’s just the spot to unwind for a night pre-or post your St. Barth vacation. We will be happy to book the Serafina for you

Island News

Congratulations to Les Voiles de St. Barth! (April 14-20, 2019) This exciting regatta celebrated its 10th anniversary and continues to grow in popularity.

Restaurant News

Love risotto? Then you’ll love Barts Food Lounge in Gustavia. This fun, casual restaurant created an off-season concept for dinner and it’s all about risotto. They feature it exclusively for dinner and offer several varieties. If risotto with asparagus, chicken and curry foam sounds yummy, we have it on good authority it is. Barts Food Lounge is also open for lunch offering burgers, salads, wraps and such and they have a full bar (always good to know). Closed on Sundays. Read all about it in Peg’s Blog.

Client Accolade

We had so much fun on our trip. And the weather was perfect. Our babysitter was a real pro. The maid was thorough. And we all had a blast. Over the last four years, we’ve been to Tortola, St. Maarten, St Lucia, and now St. Barth. If my children ruled, we would return to St Bart’s every year! So, I’m sure we will be in contact again.

Client Tip

We took advantage of the VIP offer at Le Barthélemy and spent a fantastic day there. Lunch was excellent and the entire staff were so friendly and courteous.

Thank you so much for your help arranging everything. It was certainly an A+++ vacation for us.
