Le Bulletin February 2016

Villa Vision

Bonjour from sunny St. Barth! The island is hopping, and we are delighted to see so many out dining, shopping and enjoying the beaches. My son, St. Barth Properties VP Tom Smyth, and his wife, Amy, are here as well. Empty nesters with two boys in college, they welcome the opportunity to spend more time on the island and interact with our clients. We are all working to make your dream vacation even “dreamier.”

If you weren’t one of the many who called us during the recent cold snaps (brrr), we still hope to hear from you – and see you on St. Barth! Trade those March winds and April showers for tropical breezes and sunshine. Our villa and hotel specialists are ready to chat or hear from you at This email address is being protected from spambots. Nautical buffs take note: this year’s famed regatta, the St. Barth Bucket, will be held March 17-20. The world’s most spectacular super yachts will be moored in our little harbor, and bistros like the Baz Bar (where you just might see Jimmy Buffet take the mike for a session) will be “jumping.” On April 11, sailboats and yachts from around the globe will arrive for the 7th edition of the regatta Les Voiles de Saint Barth. This is a fun-filled week concluding with fireworks on the 16th.

I hope to see you on the island!

Peg Walsh, President

PS: Don’t forget that Value Season pricing begins on April 16, and that means savings of up to 30%.

Hotels of St. Barth

Congratulations to our hotel partner Le Guanahani as they celebrate 30 years of welcoming guests to St. Barth. Established in 1986, they have just completed a $40 million enhancement that includes their new beach bar Mohito (open Thursday, Friday and Saturday). They’ll commemorate their milestone anniversary with loads of special happenings and guest experiences including screenings of 1986 movies on the beach and island explorations in their signature Mini Coopers. Le Guanahani’s culinary offerings include a new Thursday night BBQ. We loved their 30 Fun Facts sheet. Take a look.

Restaurant News

La Guérite. Well-known island restaurateur Pascal Ramette, who formerly ran PaCri, has put his stamp on the primo space once occupied by the Wall House. Sleekly reconfigured and renamed La Guérite, the eatery pays homage to a beloved old restaurant on the island of Sainte-Marguerite (near Cannes). Pascal and his partner, David Barokas, together with chef Yannis Kioroglou, offer creative Mediterranean cuisine influenced – and inspired ‒ by Yannis’ Greek heritage and love of the sea. They are open nightly for dinner, and reservations are strongly recommended.

For a review of another new popular island eatery, Carpe Diem, see Peg’s Blog. Our concierge team would be pleased to book you a table at these or any other restaurants.

Client Accolade

This was our 9th trip to St. Barth, and of all the villas we’ve stayed in, Grand Galet was our favorite. The views were incredible, and we loved the convenience of walking to Shell Beach and Gustavia. We walked to Choisy for breakfast every morning. Did I mention how much I loved the convenience of this villa???? We really want to reserve it for the same week next year....
