Le Bulletin October 2019

Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa

I’m excited! After 30 seasons on this beautiful little island, I still greet every November with happy anticipation. I’m packing up and planning for an arrival early next month – and then, busy days. We have several new villas poised to be included in our portfolio, and many in our inventory have been renovated and refurbished. We’ll be checking everything out from new furnishings to new swimming pools.

For sure, villa inspections are on the agenda. We’re also looking forward to visiting our partner hotels as they reopen for the season, dining in the new restaurants and seeing the latest fashions in the boutiques. We’ve made our dinner reservations for the St. Barth Gourmet Festival – now a major event on the Caribbean calendar.

New this year, St. Barth Properties is pleased to partner with the Caribbean Journal, the Rhum Room and other island partners in bringing this year’s Caribbean Rum Awards to St. Barth (see details in Island News) And, of course, we look forward to joining in Le Select’s 70th anniversary celebration.

Have I tempted you to “come on down” in November? Hope so! The frosting on the gâteau is that Value Season Pricing (think 30% savings) will be in effect the whole of November and up to December 14.

I hope to see you on the island. Our Villa and Hotel Specialists are eager to hear from you. Contact them via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Island News

Got Rum? St. Barth’s Rhum Room does – with 650 varieties, it’s the largest Caribbean rum bar in the world and is a key player in the upcoming (November 5-10) Caribbean Journal Caribbean Rum Awards. The Journal, in conjunction with island partners, has quite a festival and an homage to rum planned. Things will kick off with an opening cocktail party on Nov. 5, followed by a full day of rum judging and a distiller’s expo. November 8 will feature a Ti’ Punch hour. Festivities conclude on the 9th with a rum-and-food pairing dinner helmed by Andrew Zarzo at the Rhum Room’s adjacent Quarter Kitchen in Gustavia.

We’ve been sharing the news about the upcoming St. Barth Gourmet Festival, November 6-10, and if you’ve been thinking about it, we have quite an offer for you: Book a minimum 7-night stay over the festival dates at any one of the participating villas listed and receive one complimentary eight-course tasting dinner per person, a €130 value per person. See all details here.

If you’ve booked a stay over those dates and haven’t booked a dinner, there’s still time, and you’ll be in for quite an experience – and bragging rights. Venues include Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa, Hotel Christopher, Hotel Le Toiny, Le Sereno, Hotel Manapany, Le Tamarin, L’Esprit Jean-Claude Dufour and Nikki Beach. Each will host a specially selected French chef who will create a signature multi-course dinner (wine pairings are optional).

Guess who’s 70? Le Select! Join the celebration at everyone’s favorite burger shack – where the Caribs are always cold – November 8-11, 2019.

We are pleased to welcome two new Villa Rental Specialists to our island team: Anais Brethine and Alizée Barberis.

Anais Brethine

Anais hails from L’Herbergement, a small village in Upper Brittany near the lively city of Nantes. She most recently made her home in Nantes and her living as a fashion designer with a focus on ready-to-wear clothing for teenage girls. Her introduction to St. Barth was a vacation trip in January of 2019, boyfriend in tow. They both fell in love with the island, and this past August they decided to change their lifestyle and make St. Barth their home. Travel, cats and chocolate are among her passions, and she enjoys spending time with family and friends – especially at St. Barth’s gorgeous beaches.

Alizée Barberis

Born in Annecy, a lovely alpine town in southeastern France, Alizée has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa, and throughout the Caribbean. She made her home on St. Barth five years ago. Her past work has been as a makeup artist and a boutique manager in several destinations including St. Barth. She looks forward to sharing all she knows – like how fabulous the snorkeling is at Colombier and, of course, some shopping tips. Her hobbies include painting and writing poetry, and her idea of a fun evening would be partying with friends at Bagatelle.

Welcome Anais and Alizée!

Last month, we bid adieu to our concierge Aurélie Janvier. She has returned home to France with a suitcase full of kudos. We’ll miss her! She left big shoes to fill, and we have just the woman to do it. Our own Laura Commaret has taken over the position of concierge, and we’re as excited as she is. Laura will complete another great duo with her U.S. counterpart, Julia Hurd. They are ready to orchestrate your dream vacation – restaurant reservations, spa appointments, a private chef, a sailing and snorkeling day. Give them a challenge.

Laura Commaret

Our relationships with our travel agent partners are very special to us as we collaborate to deliver dream vacations to their clients. We are honored to be chosen by prestigious Protravel International as its preferred villa rental company for St. Barth.

Our trip was incredible! We achieved our goal of a relaxing week on the beaches and visited almost every one. Grand Saline was easily our favorite, and we enjoyed the picnic at Gouverneur Beach. The food was exceptional…Laura, the concierge who answered our questions after arrival, made the trip even better. Thank you for helping us enjoy a great week.
