A lovely, traditional St. Barth vacation home, the four-bedroom Villa Yellow Bird has much to recommend beginning with a stunning panoramic view. The seascape from Lorient to Anse de Cayes is breathtaking and in the distance, one can see the island’s famed Lilliputian runway with its tiny planes coming and going. The privacy level here is exceptional.
The main entrance opens to an airy living room – perfect for cocktails – and one step down, a den with chic mid-century furnishings is set up for TV viewing or a game of Canasta. Yellow Bird’s décor gives a nod to the casual elegance of a slower-paced time – and the island’s 20th-century history and lifestyle. A giant-sized colorful photograph of the daily Guadeloupe fruit boat docked for business is a focal point that delights the eye. An aerial view of Grand Cul de Sac is sans Le Guanahani and a wooden poster "rescued" from Saline Beach warns those considering nude bathing they would be facing a fine of 500 Francs.
A second entrance opens to a well-equipped teak kitchen with a breakfast bar. The adjacent dining area opens to a terrace that runs the length of the villa furnished for alfresco dining and relaxing.
There's a lovely large, heated infinity pool on the terrace that allows you to take a cool dip as you gaze across the 270-degree views of Lorient, St. Jean, St. Martin, Anguilla, and Marigot. Villa Yellow Bird has some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Beyond the terrace, the rugged beauty of Pointe Milou begins, with the 10+ acres of private nature reserve sloping down towards the sea.
Three bedrooms are located on the villa’s main level; two have en suite baths and one, just adjacent, also serves as the guest bath. Closet space is ample and all have French king beds, one is convertible to twins. Another en suite bedroom is located on the lower level with glass sliders opening to a private terrace and a gorgeous view.
An air-conditioned fitness room with an oversized bay window provides another opportunity to enjoy the stunning vista. (The fitness room has a ½ bath.) Surfers note: Villa Yellow Bird is situated in close proximity to the best spots to catch that wave.
